How To Stop Toilet Seat Moving?
Sometimes we need to face unwanted problems such as moving the toilet seat. It is very annoying but it happens quite often. You can solve the problem by tightening the screws but it again starts moving in a short period.
The main reason for loosening the screw is the hole is oversize from the screw so that the screw cannot break the porcelain after the tighten up the screw. To secure the screw you can it with a special washer.
You can fix the seat from moving sideways. To do this you need some tools and other things.
Things To Fix Seat:
- 2 adhesive washers
- Adjustable pliers
- Flat-head screwdriver
- Soap
To fix the seat from moving follow the procedure written down below:
- Shut down your cover of the seat and find the screws of the seat. To open up the screw pull them off with a flat-head screwdriver.
- Pull the screw from the bowl. If the screw is made of metal or too tight to open it you can use the plier or if the screw is made of plastic, you can simply use your hand.
- After pulling the screw, take the seat off the bowl.
- Clean the ceramic bowl with water and soap so that there is no buildup to set the seat newly. Then replace the seat on the bowl.
- Then put the screw into the hole again. Then you need 2 adhesive washers and you can get them from any hardware shop. You need to remove the backing from 2 washers and put them with the screw until they touch the bowl perfectly.
- The tight the screw with you hard or plier and it helps to stop the seat from moving.
Warning:
You should not overtighten the screw especially when it is made of metal because it can cause broken or crack the porcelain.
Tip:
Plastic screws are easier to remove and replace but in case the screws are made of metal and also rusted which is harder to remove them. For that, you can spray lubricant on them. After a little period, you can get them off and replace them with new ones.
If your toilet seat is moving aside, you can go through the procedure. You just need to find the screw and get them off and replace the new one. Place the washers with the screws to tighten them more. But overtightening can break your bowl.
