Why Tap Water Is Brown?

The appearance of brown tap water in your kitchen or bathroom sink is alarming and unhealthy for you and your family so before you can repair the outflow of the tap, you must first determine the root of the problem.

Few situations are commonly behind to make the tap water brown. In this article, I am going to discuss the reason behind the brown water of your tap.

Rust leaching from an aged galvanized iron pipe is the most likely cause. It’s most likely a supply line if you discover the discolouration first thing in the morning or after being absent from home for a long time. This is especially true if you just have one brown water tap in your house.

However, before repairing any pipes, check with your local water department to discover if anybody else in your neighbourhood has experienced the same problem.

If that’s the case, the discolouration might be the result of a water main break (or hydrants being flushed). In any situation, the discolouration should fade in about an hour.

There are a few other reasons why your tap water is brown. If the shallow water is just coming from your hot water tap, for example, you should examine the water heater.

If it’s been more than a decade, it’s likely seen better days and should be replaced. If you cannot find the reason, call an expert to repair or replace (if needed),
